Shoulder The Sky

My main character Martin Emerson's, who is a seventeen year old man in high school. Martin in currently making decisions on who to get out the stress and tension from his mothers resent death. Martin has made both good and bad decisions, on his adventure to make his life un-normal. Good decisions that I think he has made, would be the making of his website, called emerson.com. This website allows him to talk about various topics that have to do with everyday life. Bad decisions that I think he has made to try and become un-normal would be things like smoking, being late for class, drinking, and Di-facing public property. I think that these are bad decisions (minus the drinking though, in my opinion) because they will effect your life in an even worse way, later on in your life.

If you knew, Martin what decisions would you tell him to do, that would help relieve his stress or make him un-normal?
(What I mean by un-normal. He is acting like his mothers death didn’t even effect him. So people are trying to get him to do things like smoke and/or drink witch would bring him out of his normal.)

  1. If I knew Martin I'd tell him to go out with friends and maybe talk to family about how he's feeling. I think making a website was a good idea and that it was a good decision. Along with that I think maybe if he saw a counselor he would become more unnormal and it would relieve his stress. Decisions I wouldn't emphasize are being late to class and smoking and stuff because that's just going to get him in more trouble.

  2. I think that I would tell Martin that in order to relieve his stress, he would need to find something to do that is meaningful. For example, make a website to express his thoughts, which he already did. Than when he starts to smoke and drink it just brings him back to step one. So I think that he needs to find another meaningful hobby.

  3. I would probably tell Martin that he should take up a certain sport or talk to his friends. If he has problems which he needs to solve, his friends should always be there for him. He could probably take a lot of anger out by boxing, football, hockey, or any sport. Plus it may have positive effects on him later on in life.

  4. I would tell martin to try and take a class like yoga or change his diet to foods that could cope with stress. Martin should go see a shrink and maybe it would help him to get a hobby of some sort. A dog is a great friend and is perfect to fix his problem.

  5. Lots of great stress relieving ideas here! I think that Martin definitely needs to talk to someone (a counsellor or a teacher)who could give him constructive advice. Sometimes friends don't know what to say, but can be a good distraction. The website is obviously something that is good for Martin because he is able to work through the stuff that is going on in his mind. But he needs to find other outlets that doesn't end up being self-destructive.

  6. If I was friends with Martin I would help him by getting him help with his drinking and all the other bad things that he does. well i would also have his family and fiends help him get past all of the bad things he has done and hopefully it would help him later on in life.

  7. i would tell him he's weird cause he has no effect on his mothers death. i wouldnt get him hooked on smokeing or drinking cause that can have long term effect on people and might not ever stop. i think he needs people to tell him the facts and be like buddy your mom just died, cry or something. haha i'm never good with that stuff but i'd give it a try
